Our Exercise Programs (for Able-Bodied Dogs) plus Playtime Recesses & More Make Every Dog’s Stay Stress Free & Fun! “Kennel-No-More” is a kennel-free ‘Bed & Breakfast’ dog boarding service offered by Best Friends Canine Services, LLC in the private home and on the private property of Melanie Blair, Dog Behaviorist, Trainer & Canine Care Specialist. Since 2009, Melanie has been successfully, professionally rehabilitating canine behavior problems and teaching family dog owners, via private client home sessions, how to successfully achieve first-command obedience, & reliable good manners from their dogs without using corporal punishment or treat enticements; no violence, no yelling, no treat bribes. Family dog owners who prefer Melanie to do the legwork and initial training and conditioning for them have rated her residential board & train programs second to none. Throughout her former white collar careers, Melanie’s favorite leisure time activity off the clock was conditioning her dogs to be outstanding citizens and, of course, providing them with adequate daily exercise, playing with them, nurturing them, adventuring with them and training them to be reliably good mannered and first-command obedient. She was often called upon by friends and family when they had aggression problems or needed dog training tips. After learning about Dog Behaviorist, Cesar Millan (The Dog Whisperer) from a close friend, Melanie became extremely intrigued and very impressed with his philosophies and practices. She began implementing Cesar’s techniques into her own techniques and found the results to be so astounding that she began Best Friends Canine Services, LLC in 2009. Mel gives Cesar a lot of credit for being as successful as she has been able to be with dogs, particularly fearful and aggressive dogs. She practices Cesar’s all-breed ‘canine psychology’, his calm, assertive ‘pack leader’ techniques and his ‘power of the pack’ methods diligently. Her own lifelong passion for dogs plus implementing Cesar’s ways into her own ways are what she feels made her a trusted and preferred name in the dog training & dog behavior problem solving profession. Dogs and puppies who board at Melanie’s house get plenty of attention, adequate exercise (based on their specific energy level and physical allowance or capability) playtime, structure, rules, affection and socializing. Campers who have special needs, use carts, wear diapers, are diabetic, have geriatric issues, are handicapped, blind, deaf and/or who have non-contagious health conditions, special food restrictions, activity limits, etc., are lovingly, knowledgeably and meticulously cared for by Melanie according to their special needs. Reproductively intact dogs are welcome too. All dogs and puppies boarding at Melanie’s house with her balanced 4-pack of dogs, eat, sleep, exercise, play, nap, socialize and lounge in a 100% residential environment; they dwell in her roomy house with a large fenced in exercise and play yard that borders a scenic tree line and farmer’s field. They are furnished with their own cozy 'bunk cages’ which they are closed into when they sleep overnight and when Melanie has to run an errand during the day. Bunk cages are set up in main traffic (most social) areas of the home, the family room and living room areas, and not in some lonely back room. Furthermore, once canine lodgers are acclimated into the pack, their bunk cages are left open for leisurely mingling with the other dogs in the household during the balance of the day. Clients who prefer their dog not be socialized with other dogs (or with larger dogs) needn’t worry about their pooch receiving special attention and affection. They’ll still receive one on one TLC and be attended to like royalty! :) Melanie treats every dog as if they were going to be a permanent member of her household. Her maximum boarding limit of 6 client dogs (with her own dogs that puts her house limit at 10) assures that every lodger feels free of stress and very specially cared for. Bunk cages are kept clean, sanitary and are furnished with dry comforters unless your pooch prefers the cool plastic cage floor as some dogs do. Bunk cage floors are regularly cleansed with mild antibacterial soap & baby wipes, rinsed with water and then towel dried every other day or more often when needed. Comforters are changed every 2 days or replaced immediately if they get soiled, damp, muddied or moistened. Dogs who go beyond normal play barking, play talking and some whining, in other words, dogs who excessively, incessantly bark, are redirected via more exercise, activities and playtime to help them be less inclined to bark, plus, being around a balanced pack of quiet, calm, confident, gentle, easy going dogs such as Melanie's influences them to give up inapt barking almost like magic! Melanie also likes to take snapshots and video clips of canine campers and post them on her Facebook page, so if you board your canine companion at Melanie's house be sure to ‘friend’ her on Facebook so you can check out the pics and reports. If you aren’t on Facebook, just ask her to email or text them to you. You are welcome to call or text to check on your Camper any time you wish! WOOF! All Kennel-No-More ‘Bed & Breakfast’ lodgers are required to be rabies vaccinated, licensed and be on a regular worming, heartworm prevention and flea & tick prevention regiment. Regular boarders cannot be aggressive nor hostile towards other dogs or humans. Kennel-No-More is not a board & training service, rather, it is a regular recreational overnight boarding service. Melanie has Board & Train programs if you wish for your dog to have aggression rehabilitated, behavior issues corrected and/or if you wish for your dogs to be trained in first-command obedience and reliable good manners.
